Prince Aemond Targaryen: The One-Eyed Prince

Early Life

Prince Aemond Targaryen was born in 110 AC to King Viserys I Targaryen and his second wife, Queen Alicent Hightower. He was the second son and third child of the royal couple, with an older sister, Rhaenyra, and an older brother, Aegon.

Missing an Eye

Aemond is known as "One-Eye" after losing his right eye in a duel with his nephew, Lucerys Velaryon. The duel was over the claim to the Iron Throne, as Aemond supported his brother Aegon's claim, while Lucerys supported his aunt Rhaenyra's claim.

Later Life

After the Dance of the Dragons, a civil war that divided House Targaryen, Aemond ascended to the Iron Throne as King Regent, ruling for his nephew, King Aegon III Targaryen. He was known for his ruthlessness and his loyalty to House Targaryen.

Marriage and Children

In the television adaptation of "House of the Dragon," Aemond is rumored to have married Alys Rivers, a servant of House Strong. However, in the books, Aemond's marriage is not officially confirmed.

Legacy

Prince Aemond Targaryen is remembered as a complex and tragic figure in the history of Westeros. He was a skilled warrior and a loyal member of House Targaryen, but his ambition and his loss of an eye cast a shadow over his legacy.
