Indiana Fever Miss Playoffs Despite Strong Finish
Fever Finish Season 5-31, Sixth in Eastern Conference
Team Struggled with Injuries, Inconsistent Play Throughout Season
The Indiana Fever's disappointing 2024 season came to an end on Tuesday as they missed the playoffs despite a strong finish. The Fever finished with a 5-31 record, good for sixth place in the Eastern Conference.
The Fever were plagued by injuries and inconsistent play throughout the season. Star forward Marianne Stanley missed the majority of the season with a knee injury, while guard Carlos Knox was limited to just seven games due to a concussion. The Fever also struggled to find a consistent starting lineup, with coach Marianne Stanley using 14 different starting lineups throughout the season.
Despite the challenges, the Fever showed signs of improvement late in the season. They won three of their final four games, including a victory over the Eastern Conference-leading Atlanta Dream. However, it was not enough to make up for their slow start to the season.
The Fever will now look to rebuild for next season. They have a number of young players who showed promise this season, including rookie guard Aaliyah Boston. They will also need to add some veteran leadership to help them compete for a playoff spot next year.
