Trump adviser Peter Navarro convicted of contempt of Congress
Navarro accused of refusing to cooperate with Jan. 6 committee investigation
Navarro expected to address Republican National Convention
Former Trump White House adviser Peter Navarro was convicted Thursday of criminal contempt of Congress for refusing to cooperate with an investigation into the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol.
Navarro, who was a trade adviser to Trump, was found guilty of two counts of contempt of Congress. He faces up to a year in prison on each count.
The charges stem from Navarro's refusal to comply with a subpoena from the House Select Committee investigating the Jan. 6 attack.
Navarro has said he will appeal the conviction.
Navarro is expected to address the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee on Monday.
