GBI Operation Targets Human Trafficking

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) led Operation United Front, a multi-agency operation targeting human trafficking. The operation spanned 15 counties and resulted in the arrest of 14 people and the rescue of 10 victims.

Operation Details

The operation was conducted over two days and involved over 100 law enforcement officers. Officers conducted search warrants at multiple locations and interviewed potential victims and suspects.

Arrests and Rescues

As a result of the operation, 14 people were arrested on charges related to human trafficking, including pimping, pandering, and solicitation of prostitution. Ten victims, ranging in age from 16 to 24, were rescued and provided with support services.

Importance of Collaboration

GBI Director Vic Reynolds emphasized the importance of collaboration in combating human trafficking. "This operation would not have been possible without the cooperation of our local, state, and federal partners," he said. "We are committed to working together to protect the vulnerable and hold traffickers accountable."

Warning Signs of Human Trafficking

The GBI encourages the public to be aware of the signs of human trafficking and to report any suspicious activity. Common warning signs include:

  • Individuals who appear to be under the control of others
  • People who are forced to work or engage in sexual activity
  • Individuals who are living in isolated or secretive conditions
